Obama denies e-mail relationship with Scarlett Johansson

Barrack Obama put recent reports suggesting that he was in regular touch over e-mail with actress Scarlett Johansson in perspective saying that he responded to a single email from her thanking her for her support.

"She sent one email to [my assistant] Reggie [Love], who forwarded it to me," he said. "I write saying, 'thank you Scarlett for doing what you do,' and suddenly we have this email relationship."

Obama clarified that Johansson does not have his personal e-mail address.

Earlier this month Johansson told Politico.com that she finds it "amazing" that Barack Obama has the time to answer her adoring e-mails.

"I feel like I'm supporting someone, and having a personal dialogue with them, and it's amazing," added Johansson.

Her statements had been interpreted to suggest that she was regularly exchanging e-mails with the Presumptive Democratic Party Presidential candidate.

Johansson, 23, an ardent supporter of Obama, has campaigned tirelessly for him and appeared in his celebrity-packed Yes We Can Internet music video.

"My heart belongs to Barack," she joked with Associated Press reporter in January. "I am engaged to Barack Obama."

Johansson's twin brother Hunter works on the Obama campaign.

Reese Witherspoon Named Top Earning Actress

American actress Reese Witherspoon has been named Hollywood’s highest paid actress in Hollywood Reporter rich list.

The Legally Blonde star makes an estimated 15 to 20 million dollars for any film that she signs up for, reports Contactmusic.

This has put the actress at the top of the new list, ahead of Cameron Diaz and Nicole Kidman.

The other actresses to make it to the top ten are Renee Zellweger, Halle Berry and Julia Roberts.

Meanwhile the actress officially ended her seven-year marriage with actor Ryan Phillippe on June 12.

The couple finalized their divorce with court documents filed in Los Angeles. Witherspoon had filed for a divorce in 2006, citing irreconcilable differences.

American socialite Kim Kardashian has revealed that she wants to be a Bond Girl, who is rescued by 007 hottie Daniel Craig.

Well known for her social life and sex tape, Kim, who is making her big-screen debut in the spoof Disaster Movie in December, would just love to land a part with the heartthrob and film some steamy scenes.

"I want to be a Bond Girl and film a love scene with Daniel Craig after he's rescued me," the Sun quoted her as saying. "I would be drowning, wearing a bikini with a gun in a sachet, and he would dive in and get me that would be really sexy," she said.

The only thing that would stand in the way of her dream would be her American Football star boyfriend Reggie Bush, who is already not to keen about her posing for Playboy. "Reggie would absolutely hate it," she admitted.

Amy Winehouse may be suffering from tuberculosis

Amy Winehouse might be suffering from tuberculosis as she's reportedly been coughing up blood and suffering a severe chest infection, it has emerged.

The 24-year-old has suffered further weight loss and a loss of appetite - all symptoms of the deadly disease. Winehouse also has an irregular heartbeat and doctors have put her on a drip as they try to get her off her drug addiction.

"Amy is in a bad way. Doctors are still struggling to control her heartbeat but the chest condition has been really worrying them," The Sun quoted a friend, as saying.

"She'd been been suffering horrible coughing fits and hurling up blood for a while but refused to be examined. Doctors now believe it is tuberculosis and are doing more tests to be certain," the friend added.

The 'Rehab' singer collapsed at her home in Camden, North London, on June 16 and was rushed to a clinic by dad Mitch. Doctors were trying to discover if the collapse is related to a seizure she suffered last August when she was hospitalised after a huge drug binge.

"Things sound really bad, but at least now they have found something specific it will be easier to keep her in hospital and free from drugs," a source said. "The word tuberculosis might frighten her into getting herself well. It certainly should do. "She needs to realise she will die if she she doesn't clean up her act," the source added.

Marilyn Monroe tops Playboy's best bunnies list

Hollywood screen legend Marilyn Monroe has landed the top spot in a list of Playboy bunnies, compiled by celebrity website StarPulse.com.

Monroe, the magazine's first ever model, was followed by Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson, with reality TV star Kim Kardashian landing the third spot, reports the NZPA.

Giving the examples of Winehouse and Spears, whose troubled lives have been heavily publicised in the media, she will argue that female celebrities are "routinely condemned for their perceived excessive lifestyles and their disregard for the apparent rules of femininity through extreme diets or weight gain, drug abuse, supposed lack of fashion sense, and an 'unfeminine' need for fame and attention".

According to Fairclough, there is a "paradox" in society's views of women in the limelight. "On one hand female celebrities crave freedom, but on the other hand they still pander to conservative ideas of sexuality through what's been called 'raunch culture'," Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.

"Women are routinely condemned for their behaviour in the media but this isn't just misogyny the bitching culture tends to be about women against women. It's a real step backwards. "The media circus may have reached saturation point with Britney Spears, but I predict it will get worse with other celebrities before it gets better," she added.

Coming to theaters four years after they ended their six-season run on the small screen, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and pals unleashed a frenzy among the show's fans, who organized "girls' nights out" to catch up with their heroines' exploits.

Going into the weekend, the Time Warner Inc-owned studio had expected the film to earn $25 million to $35 million for the three-day period.

The picture crushed "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," which observers had assumed would whip up a second weekend in first place. Instead, the Paramount Pictures adventure was a distant No. 2 with $46.0 million; it has earned $216.9 million since opening on May 22.

The Rogue Pictures horror film "The Strangers" kicked off at No. 3 with $20.7 million, also surpassing predictions.
